about the artist
Janice Prodor has been making and selling jewelry from her home in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada since 1999. She has always loved jewelry and started this journey by taking a silversmithing course once her two children were in school full-time. When she made a bangle from start-to-finish on the first day, she was inspired! Shortly afterwards, she took a silver wire course and began creating bead and wire jewelry which is now her passion.
Janice's good friend Joan encouraged her to bring over a few pieces to her house on a Friday evening to display and sell. Well, as the story goes, she went over to Joan's with a shoebox full of jewelry and came home with it empty - not to mention the means and incentive to create her first full collection. The rest is an ongoing history of successful shows and very happy fashion-conscious customers.
Since then, Janice has enjoyed her continued development as a jewelry designer - new techniques, design trends and international resources for unique gems and materials are all researched and combined to create new collections for each season. She loves to work with sterling silver but many of her designs feature gold-filled components as the preferred design element. Semi-precious stones, pearls, Austrian crystal and Italian glass beads are incorporated in Janice's hand-crafted designs.
She hosts Open Houses twice a year in both Edmonton and Calgary. Janice's designs are usually one-of-a-kind and not often repeated, so the collections are always changing.
Besides jewelry featured at her Open Houses, Janice custom designs jewelry, especially for weddings and graduations. Inquiries are always welcome.
Janice continues to seek inspiration on her travels, always acquiring new ideas and beads along the way. Visit the collection page for a sampling of this year's jewelry designs. |
